About

Ulysse Remars (Belette) is a pianist and cabaret performer born in France. Immersed in various art forms throughout his youth (classical dance, theatre, drawing), he later focused his artistic practice on the piano, entering the Regional Conservatory of Bretagne. Over the years, he developed a cabaret alter ego named Belette, a Victorian woman performing in acts, concerts, and staged scenery. He is now completing a music Bachelor's degree specialized in piano in Antwerp (Belgium).

Always drawn to the modernist era, he gradually cultivated a taste for the full spectrum of its artistic expressions: French Impressionism (Monet, Debussy), Decadentism (Huysmans, Baudelaire), Symbolism (Delville, Moreau, Redon), Cabaret artists (Toulouse-Lautrec, Yvette Guilbert), Russian dissonances (Stravinsky, Prokofiev).

The idea for the website was born out of a desire to share the complete catalogue of modernist composers, to democratize the modernist music through a visually appealing structure, to shed light on lesser-known works and the rich historical context surrounding them, as well as to provide an ordered database for connaisseurs.
